Ian Roberts President
Welcome to the November newsletter.
It was very pleasing to again see an excellent rollup of close to 80 at the last Members’ Meeting and the 30 odd who lunched afterwards. Judging by the many conversations at morning tea, everyone seems to be mixing well and meeting new people.
By now, you should have received an email from Probus South Pacific giving you access to the Active Retirees magazine. We should also be able to provide you with your Probus cards at the next meeting.
The key to the success of any Probus Club is the extent to which members participate in activities organised through the activity groups. We have 16 activity groups in the club which provide a wide cross section of interests for members. Each group is led and organised by a very effective leader and they provide a venue where people with a common interest can gather. I would encourage you to review the schedule in this Newsletter and register to participate in the various activities.
We are still looking for Activity Leaders for the Trips Away, Card Games and Craft activities. If you feel that you could lead one of these groups, or share the role, please contact Glenda Coote (Events Coordinator) to discuss it with her.
I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.

Wednesday 23rd November
Julie Warner - Julie Warner Travel Plans
Julie will speak about Travel and the Secrets to Successful Travel Planning.
This will cover some of my personal travel experiences to over 100 countries and then look at steps you can take planning your own successful travels.
BIO
After meeting her husband on a European Contiki tour 23 years ago, Julie has personally travelled to over 100 countries and along with her Husband, they have taken their 15 & 13-year-old children to 50 countries. These trips have included: 3 – weeks through Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, 10 – weeks through South America, 6 – weeks through Central America and Cuba along with many other journeys.
From her love of travel, Julie started a travel planning business 10 years ago which offers a unique “Travel Broker Service” which researches existing Travel Providers both on-line and physical agencies to provide an independent review of available travel options for each itinerary. The broker service does all the research, phoning around, price negotiations and comparisons of costs and options for your trip so you are assured you are getting good value for your money
Julie has published her first travel planning book “Going Somewhere and taking the kids! – Our journey through Vietnam. Cambodia and Laos” and is close to completing her second book covering the 10-week trip with her family through South America.
Having travelled on many extensive trips, Julie found that there were very few tools available to capture all the planning details required for these holidays, and set about developing a PC based travel planning App to assist with putting together these itineraries and providing a central repository for all quotes, travel requirements and customisable packing and check lists.
With over 25 years of independent travel experience that has led to a wealth of knowledge, Julie wants to share this with others so they have the confidence and ability to do the travelling that they have always dreamt of, as she has been able to do with her family.
