President's Report
Ian Roberts President
Welcome to the Newsletter for October 2017.
After several members raised the issue of parking, I wrote to the Mayor (copied to the local MP) on 24th August outlining the issue and proposing some solutions. I received a reply from the Mayor on 27th September. In essence, he has said that:
The conclusion therefore is that I doubt there will be much action forthcoming from Council. However, we will discuss the options at the next management meeting.
PSPL has divided Clubs into “clusters”. We are in Cluster 5. The purpose of the cluster groups is to share ideas primarily to assist those clubs experiencing difficulties attracting members. The first meeting of Cluster 5 was held last Tuesday 12th September. Judging from the Minutes of the meeting, the intention of the clusters has spread much more widely than membership and I doubt that Cluster 5 will add much value to our Club. However, I will keep a close eye on developments as they occur.
As we discussed at our last meeting, we will be holding our AGM in February next year rather than March. We have received advice from our auditor that he will be able to complete the audit of the Club finances for presentation at the meeting.
We are calling for nominations for Committee positions. If you feel that you would like to discuss the possibility of nominating for a position, please feel free to approach any member of the Committee. Now that the Club has settled into an “ongoing” mode, the roles do not demand a lot of your time. The Committee has settled now meets each second month rather than monthly. Descriptions of each role are available if you would like to follow it up.
The purpose of Probus is to provide Fun, Fellowship and Friendship for the members. It has been another great month for activities. Our Club has a large number of activities for everyone to enjoy and participate in, and a great group of people. The more you participate and join in the activities, the more you will get out of the Club and the fun that fellowship and friendship provides.
Remember, as always, if you have any ideas or suggestions, please contact any of the Committee and let them know.
I look forward to seeing you again at the next meeting.

- Parking within the marked spaces is necessary to preserve the landscaping
- Council is not able to provide parking exemptions or parking “permits”.
- He has requested Council officers to undertake parking surveys during the 4th school term to gauge whether parking supply is adequate.
The conclusion therefore is that I doubt there will be much action forthcoming from Council. However, we will discuss the options at the next management meeting.
